The Ancients
I work with real and imagined landscapes and am influenced by places that have been lived in or used for ceremony by our ancestors. The forms I use reference the landscape, artefacts and structures of megalithic sites - places where the importance of the sun and the cycles of life were once revered.

The Winged Figure
The winged figure is traditionally associated with universal archetypes and represents the human struggle with corporeal existence. I often use this imagery to reflect the restrictions we face as individuals -
whether they be through the memories retained from education, parental control, social constraints or our own personal inhibitions.

Many of my figures are held by cages or boxes or confined on the edge of a precipice. Often there is an easy way out of this confinement but somehow the vulnerable figures are unable to make the leap to freedom.
